One of the nations largest AutoMakers is recalling one of its most popular vehicles. The reason for this recall is an issue with the hood latch where it will actually come loose and the hood could actually pop up while in motion.

Previous recalls for this issue have occurred for the 2012, '13, '14, '15, '16 models. But now they're extending that to models through 2018.

According to a report from the Associated Press:

"A coating can flake off the secondary hood latch, leaving bare metal that, over time, can cause rust and cause it to stay open on Altimas built from 2013 to 2018 model years,

Some of the cars were recalled in 2014, with another recall in 2015, both of which involved fixing a lever and adjusting and lubricating the secondary latches. In a 2016 recall, Nissan replaced the latches with new ones."

You are highly encouraged to look at your vehicles VIN code and look it up here to see if yours is needed to be recalled.

Now there currently is not a fix for this issue so a letter is being sent out with proper maintenance instruction.
