SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Up to 10 inches of rain has fallen overnight in parts of Texas Hill Country, triggering flash flood warnings, road closures and the cancellation of classes.

Heavy rainfall fell early Friday morning in Rio, Uvalde (yoo-VAWL'-dee), Zavala (ZAH'-vah-lah) and other counties west of San Antonio. Lighter precipitation was moving eastward into the San Antonio region.

The National Weather Service says the Rio Grande River at Eagle Pass normally flows at about three feet but is expected to swell to nearly 10 feet (the flood stage is 16 feet).

The Eagle Pass school district cancelled all Friday classes.

Intermittent showers are expected to continue through the day in the region before giving way to sunny skies Saturday.
