Earlier in 2021, Whataburger announced plans to open four new Whataburger restaurants in Kansas City. On August 10th, the burger chain announced that the expansion was happening soon and that the new investor-led franchise group was indeed headed by none other than Patrick Mahomes.

Before 2029 there will be 30 Whataburger openings in Mahomes' new home area with two locations opening close to The Kansas City Chiefs as soon as 2022.

"I love Kansas City and I love Whataburger," Mahomes said on Whataburger.com. "I'm excited to help bring a gift from my first home to my second home."

The restaurants will not only bring delicious food to the KC area, but it's also more than 500 jobs this year, and even more in the years to come. Beyond that, this is just another example of Mahomes expanding his portfolio beyond football.

After signing the richest contract in sports history at the time, he snagged a piece of ownership in the KC Royal of the MLB. Then, just recently, it was announced that Mahomes was the newest minority owner of the Sporting KC MLS team.

That's on top of his endorsements with Head and Shoulders, State Farm, Oakley, Adidas, Coors Light and so many more. That's not even mentioning that he also owns the Los Angeles Chargers, Denver Broncos, and Las Vegas Raiders.
